THANKS TO GEORGE WILL, CORPORAL BUCKLES AND SOLDIERS, PRESENT AND PAST

This is the weekend of an American Celebration of our Heroes.  Just finished reading a story written by that great historian and American Patriot, George Will, and it made me proud to be an American and veteran.  In today's world of plenty with freedom that we live in, it saddens and angers me to read, see, and hear so many Americans who do not have a clue as to how great is the country with it's traditions and history and reputation around the world, that they have the privilege to live in.  And it disheartens me even more to hear people who are running for the Presidency of this Great Nation, who do not have the same feelings about this great country we live in.  The qualities of Corporal Buckles are the qualities that made this country great.  Our public schools do not foster this kind of pride, respect, courage, integrity and love and loyalty to our great nation anymore, as they brainwash our kids with revisionist histories that make them learn to disdain and mistrust their country, and to embrace even our enemies in such a way as to say, "why can't we all just get along?"  And, while at the same time, the public schools cannot even make a safe and healthy enviroment for the children they are entrusted with day after day, where violence and abuse of students by other students and others.  Schools are supposed to be the place for children to get an academic education and to learn how to get along with good socialization skills without fear from bullies who bully them physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, but our schools do not do that, and worse our schools will not even give them the opportunity to Learn To Love and Respect their country and it's Rich History as being the Leader in the World for World Freedom.  Instead, they are taught about all the evils of our country, and they have now grown up, go out and vote for people who reenforce the same nonsense they are learning in these public schools who are filled with, for the most part, know-nothing teachers who worse yet, have no courage to teach the truth or to stand up for anything, because they have been cowered down by administrations being dictated to from Washington D.C. by the U.S. Dept. of Education who tell them, "don't rock the boat, you might disrupt our funding."  Schools are blackmailed into teaching an agenda that teaches students to disrespect their country, and at the same time, dumbs them down to the Lowest Common Denominator, so that hardly any of the students who survive 12 or more years of this public indocrination, leave school with intact Emotional Growth and sense of self with the academic skills to make it in the Real World.

So, Thanks Corporal Buckles and George Will and All Great American Patriots who still survive and for those who have gone before, and for those currently serving in Iraq and elsewhere.  If not for the American Patriots of the past, I would not have the privelege of sitting here typing this piece.  And by the way, thanks to Ms. Louise Hines, who taught me so well in two years of her typing class back in LaFayette High School, Alabama where this writer is proud to say, "I graduated from that fine institution that taught me about pride and respect of self, country, family, and God, in 1966."  So, you see, I too, have a history and memories of a Great Country that I learned about in locally controlled schools where teachers were also members of the community who also loved God and country, and had grown up in schools that taught the same values.  Community schools with community control works best to educate and these schools were dismantled by a Federal Bureaucracy as they forced a Socialist agenda, that has not only destroyed the greatest education system even known, but as a byproduct had almost destroyed the country.  We have to get back to basics.

Here is the comment I made on George Will's story about a Great American, who is The Only Survivor from the United States of World War One.  A war that most high school graduates of recent decades probably has never heard of or if they did hear of it, it was probably summed up in a half a page of commentary by some socialist book writer.

Subject: George Will's Commemoration of A Hero
Thank you Mr. Will and especially Thanks to Mr. Buckles. This sort of spirit, determination, and courage is what this country was founded on and is what lead us to the forefront in the world as a Great Nation. A Great Nation is built by Great People of Courage, Determnation, Integrity, Decency, Family Traditions, and Faith in Self, Family, Country, and God. We, the Americans, were seen and viewed as "The Good Guys" when we showed up for a war to Defend the downtroddent people's who were being slaughtered by dictatorial regimes. I just hope and pray that we return to those values and roots that once made this country be seen as the Savior of The World from dictatorial regimes that have given us Hitler, Stalin, and others, and as Mr. Will states, the wars we are in now have deep roots going back to the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and others, and today have given us the Dictatorial Regime of the Midget of Iran. Happy Memorial Day Mr. Buckles, and this veteran prays that you continue to live out a long and prosperous life. When you are gone, there will be nobody left who has a Firsthand Memory of A monumental time in the history of this nation and world.
Thank You Mr. Will for taking the time to tell me about him.
